Problem

This error can occur when the user is attempting to display/print an Avatar report using Crystal Viewer. The message displays immediately after hitting "Process" in Avatar and does not allow the report to display. Note this can occur whether running a report via Avatar direct or via Citrix. 

Solution

The issue usually is that the workstation may be pointed at a non-standard printer as default – i.e. a specialized printer like a label printer. As the format of this would obviously not allow the report to display/print correctly, the error occurs. This is how to resolve the issue. 

  1. Go to Windows/Start or the Control Panel
  2. Search for "Devices & Printers"
  3. Make sure a standard, networked printer is the default. If no green checkmarks are seen, right-click and select "Set as default" for the printer
