Adding Widgets to an Avatar View or Console

This article will go over the steps to add widgets to a view or console in Avatar. Widgets are the small windows that show specific information, and while most views/console are not customizable, there are a couple that are:

  • 24/7 Home Views (all versions, for programs that have implemented the 24/7 Template)

  • Just4Me Console View (present on all views for Community Template programs)

 Instructions

These views have a default configuration, but you can add/remove widgets and even change the layout if you’d like. To customize:

  1. From your Home View, go to the top right and click on the square icon:

  1. You will then be looking at your Widgets tab in your Preferences; you can select from the Available widgets on the left side to add to your Home View by left-clicking and holding with your mouse on the name of the widget, then dragging it to the space on the right:

  1. The widget will drop wherever you let go of the mouse button, and it will drop into the area outlined in black:

  1. Once you have dropped your widget in, you can expand the size of the widget (or any others) by clicking and dragging on the blue borders when you see the double arrow icon:

  1. Click Apply in the bottom left corner when done, or you can click Dismiss to exit with no changes made. Note you may need to log out and back into Avatar to see the changes take effect.

At any time, if you make any changes to your Home View that you want to undo, you can click the “Reload Home View” button to set things back to default.
